Troubled Citizen TV news anchor Jacque Maribe will spend the night in cold police custody over the murder of Nairobi business woman Monica Kimani.
Detectives investigating the mysterious killing, whisked Maribe to Gigiri Police Station on the early night of Saturday, September 29, where she had gone for the second time to record a statement.
The police also managed to arrest another suspect Brian Kasaine and is being held at Lang’ata Police Station.
The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti confirmed his team had sufficient evidence to charge the TV beauty whom he said is a person of interest.
Jacque whose fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowi is a key suspect in the murder case, will be detained throughout the weekend awaiting to be arraigned on Monday, October 1.
The media personality first presented herself to the Kilimani police station on Thursday, September 27, where she was questioned by detectives and recorded her statement, she has since been summoned twice on Friday and Saturday.
Irungu had claimed to have been shot on the chest by unknown assailant on the night of Thursday, September 20, when Monica was slain. In his statements, he told sleuths he dropped Jacque off at Royal Park Estate in the dawn of Friday, September 21, after which he was allegedly shot on the shoulder by attackers.
She acknowledged taking his lover fiancee to Nairobi West Hospital where he received treatment and was discharged. The police on Tuesday, September 25, however said Irungu’s bullet wound was self-inflicted. The slain 28-year-old was buried on Friday, September 28, at her father’s home in Gilgil, Nakuru county.
